CHALLENGE
The Department of Commerce’s Customs Modernization and Border Management Program, under the “Pathways to Prosperity in the Americas” initiative, focused on fostering dialogue on customs reforms between the public and private sectors. They were seeking a company with experience in organizing specialized events to plan and conduct workshops with participants from Peru’s public and private sectors.
SOLUTION
Trade Training organized the first workshop for the Ministry of Commerce in 2014 and was rehired for the program in 2015, bringing together over 300 participants from Peru’s public and private sectors. It coordinated with over 20 national expert speakers and over 7 international guest speakers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the FDA, the World Bank, the World Customs Organization, the Inter-American Development Bank, and Costa Rica’s Ministry of Foreign Trade.
RESULTS
Flawless Execution Over Two Cycles: Workshop I (March 2014) and Workshop II (June 2015) were successfully carried out, meeting all logistical, participation, and content objectives.
Strengthening of the Bilateral Network: The participation of over 300 leaders from the public and private sectors in Peru and the U.S. was facilitated throughout the two workshops, consolidating a key forum for dialogue on trade facilitation.
